COVID-19: Saraki donates N10,000 stipend to 500 youth artisans on May 22, 2020

...as another 2500 vulnerable Kwarans get 10,000 each

About 500 Kwara youth whose livelihoods have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic have each received N10,000 stipend, courtesy of the immediate past President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

This is coming less than a week after no fewer than 2500 economically vulnerable persons across the State each got N10,000, also from Senator Saraki.

The Press Officer to Saraki on Local Matters, Abdulqadir Abdulganiyu, who made this known in a statement, said the money was to support the beneficiaries during this difficult times occasioned by the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic.

Abdulganiyu said this intervention is different from the palliative materials including food items, hand sanitizer and gloves Saraki had earlier distributed to less privileged members of the society, aimed at cushioning the impacts of the lockdown that was earlier imposed by the State government to curb the spread of COVID-19.

According to him, Saraki, had in his usual magnanimity and concern for the less privileged, last week directed the payment of the stipend into personal accounts of the beneficiaries, to alleviate the hardship they are experiencing.

He further explained that beneficiaries of the latest intervention by Saraki, are mostly artisans whose sources of living have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.

He added that the beneficiaries, who are between the ages of 18 and 35 were drawn from the 16 local government areas of Kwara State.

Abdulganiyu also recalled that Saraki, had some days ago, distributed Ramadan packages to numerous individuals and groups in Kwara.

He said this is different from the palliative materials including food items, hand sanitizer and gloves Saraki had in April, distributed to less privileged members of the society, which was intended to cushion the impacts of the lockdown that was imposed by the State government to curb the spread of COVID-19.
